Ashley Bittner
Managing Partner
Ashley is an experienced venture investor with a track record of supporting innovation and leadership across the private and public sectors. Ashley has led or worked on more than $250M in investments in these sectors.
Ashley began her career in sustainability, looking holistically at the intersection of the economy, environment, and education. She initially focused on education, joining Teach For America and leading a classroom in the Bronx, in the poorest school district in the U.S. at the time.
After receiving two graduate degrees, honing her due diligence skills at BCG, and serving as a political appointee during the Obama Administration in the Department of Education, Ashley joined Owl Ventures Fund I. All of these experiences shaped her view of where technology and venture capital can have an outsized positive impact.

Renée Beaumont
Partner + Executive Chair
Renée is an expert in investment management, investor relations, and sustainability.
Renée is the former COO at Lafayette Square, an investment platform that “seeks to stimulate economic growth through the creation and preservation of working-class jobs.” She is also a former Partner at Generation Investment Management, a multi-billion dollar firm that focuses on sustainable capitalism across public and private equity.
Prior to Generation, Renée served as Managing Director and Global Head of Business Development at Providence Equity Partners LLC after almost a decade at Goldman Sachs & Co., where she was a Managing Director in its Merchant Banking Division. Renée began her career as an attorney at Shearman & Sterling LLP and clerk for the British Columbia Court of Appeals.

Kate Ballinger
Principal
Kate began working with Ashley and Renée in 2020. Since joining the team, Kate has supported all aspects of fund and firm management. She manages the fund’s pipeline, sources investment opportunities and co-leads financing processes. Kate has observed on 8+ boards from Seed to Series C, shaping her view of the market opportunity in economic opportunity.
Prior to joining Kalos, Kate was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. She spent half of her time focused on PE due diligences. During this time, Kate honed her skills in financial analysis, market sizing, valuation and growth modeling.
In 2018, she was selected as one of twelve globally to join BCG’s Social Impact Immersion Program where she specialized in Social Impact casework. This experience shaped Kate’s view of venture capital as a lever for systems change and impact.

David Blake
Venture Partner
David has been building companies since 2008, focused on innovating in formal education and lifelong learning. He has founded 3 companies–Degreed, Learn In, and BookClub--and was part of the founding team at Zinch, which exited to Chegg. David is on a mission to future proof our workforce and use learning and skills to enable everyone to fulfill their personal missions.
David is the co-founder and CEO of Degreed. Millions of individuals and hundreds of organizations use Degreed’s platform to discover and answer for all of their learning and skills. Prior to Degreed, he helped launch a competency-based, accredited university.
He is the co-author of the book, The Expertise Economy and the co-creator of the Skills Quotient. He is a sought-after expert on the topic of the future of work and learning, speaking at companies such as Google, Deloitte, and Salesforce and at conferences globally. He is also an active angel investor and sourced 2 companies for the Kalos team’s prior fund through his network–Transfr and Podium Education.

Josh Golomb
Venture Partner
Josh Golomb is an experienced senior executive who has co-founded healthcare enterprises and has presided over several large organizations. Most recently, Josh was the CEO of Hazel Health, the leading telehealth provider for K-12 schools. Hazel partners with school districts and health plans to provide access to physical and behavioral health services at school or at home. The company has served more than 5 million students. Ashley led Hazel’s Series B in 2019 while at Owl Ventures.
Before Hazel, Josh co-founded DaVita and led the organization as President from $50M to $1B+ of revenue. Josh also served as the CEO of direct primary care startup, Everside Health (recently merged with Marathon Health). Josh’s service as an early AmeriCorps member at the start of his career instilled a commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities that pacts all facets of his work. Josh holds both a B.A. and M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Eric Sharp
Technical Advisor
Eric is a three-time technical co-founder with deep expertise in AI and building venture-backed companies from 0 to 1. Most recently, he co-founded Humanist Venture Studio, an AI-focused venture studio. Previously, he co-founded Degreed, where he led the technical team through multiple stages of growth, and served as Managing Partner at Future of Work Studios, helping launch Learn In (acquired by Degreed) and BookClub.
Eric's technical focus spans AI, machine learning, cloud architecture and information security. He specializes in transforming ambitious ideas into shipping products, leading technical teams through rapid iteration and scale, and identifying where emerging technology capabilities create genuine market opportunities.

Toni Alejandria
Head of Investor Relations + Community
Toni is the Head of Investor Relations, Community, and Operations for Kalos Ventures. Drawing on 18+ years building high-impact communities and designing memorable experiences, she has helped launch and scale Preface Ventures, Rackhouse Ventures, and Unanimous Capital. Her path into venture began at Summit Series, the invite-only network connecting investors, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, and more. Prior to Summit, she held marketing and events roles at startups including Tilt and Adentro. When she's not building communities or crafting the perfect event, you'll find Toni behind the decks, hosting brunch, or on a serious hunt for the best club sandwich in town. Toni lives in New York City, New York with her husband Gil (a fund manager) and 1 year old son Phoenix.

Ana Betancur
Executive Assistant
Ana is a Colombian-born, naturalized Costa Rican who spent over 8 years at McKinsey & Company, building her experience in operations and executive program delivery. She has coordinated complex, high-impact learning and event experiences for global audiences, supported by a background and degree in Hospitality Management and international studies in Switzerland, which shaped her approach to service, organization, and cross-cultural work. Over time, her role has evolved from supporting senior leaders to leading regional teams and delivering large-scale programs, always grounded in strong relationships with colleagues and partners across regions.
Outside of work, Ana enjoys visiting friends around the world, scuba diving, and occasionally acting as a personal chef for special occasions

Amel Abdelwahid, CPA
Fractional Controller
Amel served as Director of Finance and Operations at an early- stage venture fund, where she continues to provide support as a fractional CFO. Prior to that, she was an Accounting Manager at Kranz Consulting, providing accounting and advisory services to numerous early-stage venture capital funds and managing quarterly and annual financial reporting in collaboration with external service providers. Earlier in her career, she gained alternative investment experience working with private equity and venture capital clients at other fund administrators.
Amel began her career at PwC as an auditor in the Asset Management and Financial Services practice, specializing in audits of mutual funds, private equity, and venture capital firms. She holds a BS in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Colorado Denver and an MS in Accountancy from Regis University, and she is a licensed CPA in Colorado.

Sarah is the founder and CEO of Manifest. She lives in Toledo, Ohio, a city rich with small businesses that drive the local economy. Previously, she was the CEO of ReUp Education, a company that leverages patented technology and personalized support to empower individuals who dropped out of college to complete their degree. The Kalos team has known Sarah since 2019, during her time as CEO of ReUp.

Jeff Wald
Stealth
Jeff is a serial entrepreneur, board member, author, and industry thought leader in HRtech. He has founded ten companies and served as CEO of four. Prior to his latest company, Jeff co-founded WorkMarket which exited to ADP. The Kalos team has worked closely with Jeff, serving on the same board for another venture-backed company since 2020.

Bharani Rajakumar
Transfr
Bharani is the CEO and founder of Transfr, an economic development and education platform pioneering the use of virtual reality to simulate on-the-job training. Prior to Transfr, Bharani co-founded the math tutoring software company LearnBop, which was acquired in 2014 by online learning company K12 Inc. Ashley first met Bharani when he was growing LearnBop. She was reconnected to Bharani through David Blake, an angel investor in Transfr.

Jen Henderson
Tilt
Jen is the founder and CEO of Tilt, a company revolutionizing employee leave in the workplace. She spent 15 years in corporate America prior to founding Tilt, in a variety of operational roles. As a professional mom with 2 small children, she experienced career stagnation and pregnancy discrimination when she disclosed both of her pregnancies which motivated her to revolutionize leave in the workplace. The Kalos team has been working with Jen since 2020.

Clasp
Tess Michaels is the Founder and CEO of Clasp, a mission-driven, venture-backed company tackling critical talent shortages in healthcare by bridging the gap between education and employment. By enabling employers to invest in future talent where it matters most—easing overwhelming student debt—Clasp creates lasting bonds between employers and employees. Tess founded Clasp from a student-first perspective during her MBA at Harvard Business School. Tess exited her previous company while completing her BS & BA at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to founding Clasp, she worked in healthcare investment banking at Goldman Sachs and private equity at Vista Equity Partners. Tess has been recognized in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in education for her innovative work in education and employment solutions and Clasp has been selected as Business Insider’s Top 18 Most Promising Startups in Healthcare.

Siran Cao
Mirza
Siran is the co-founder and CEO of Mirza. She is a first generation American who was raised by a single mother. She watched as her mother struggled to afford basic needs for her family while working multiple jobs. Prior to Mirz, Siran was an executive at Uber where she built the driver support organization in New York and oversaw business operations for the U.S. Northeast. The Kalos team began working with Siran in 2021.

Cameron Carter
Rosarium Health
Cameron Carter is the CEO and Founder of Rosarium Health. Prior to launching Rosarium Health, he spent the past decade in value-based care operation and business development roles at DaVita Inc, Bright Health, Evolent Health, and Truven Health Analytics. Before his value-based care roles, Cameron spent time in academic research roles studying solutions to reduce healthcare disparities in underserved communities in the United States. He is a founding member of the Childhood Disparities Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and has taught undergraduate physiology courses at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and Colorado State University.
